Charles Antaki is Professor of Language and Social Psychology, and a member of the Discourse and Rhetoric Group (DARG) in the Department of Social Sciences at Loughborough University, UK. He is also Editor of the journal Research on Language and Social Interaction. His interests are in understanding ordinary and institutional interaction through Conversation Analysis. While he is visiting Helsinki’s Centre of Excellence in Research on Intersubjectivity in Interaction, he hopes to learn about the Centre’s current projects, while also working on his own materials. Among his recent publications is the edited volume Applied Conversation Analysis (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011), and articles on questions and directives in various academic journals.
