Abstract
Dans l’introduction à ce numéro spécial dédié à la requête dans les interactions institutionnelles, nous présentons d’abord la conception de l’institution et de l’interaction institutionnelle caractérisant les travaux ici réunis, laquelle peut être qualifiée de socio-constructiviste. Nous esquissons ensuite le développement historique de la recherche sur les requêtes, en prêtant une attention particulière aux études menées dans une perspective interactionnelle et multimodale. Enfin, nous explicitons les fondements épistémologiques d’une conception interactionnelle de l’agir social, et par extension de la requête, et de son caractère réflexif et intelligible, donc reconnaissable. Pour conclure, nous présentons les contributions rassemblées dans le volume et identifions leur apport à une meilleure compréhension de la requête dans ses dimensions à la fois formelles et sociales.

Requests in institutional interactions: An introduction
In the introduction to this special issue dedicated to the study of requests in institutional interactions, we first present the socio-constructivist understanding of the notion of “institution” that underlies the studies brought together here. We then outline the historical development of research on requests, focusing specifically on studies oriented around interactions, including those offering multimodal analyses. Next, we discuss the epistemological foundations of an interactionist view of social action and, by extension, of the act of requesting, and stress the reflexive and accountable nature of social actions. Finally, we briefly present the studies brought together in this special issue and highlight the contributions that they offer to our understanding of both the formal and the social dimensions of requests in social interaction.
