  • UCL Department / DivisionPrimary Care & Population Health
  • Grade7
  • Hours Full Time
  • Salary (inclusive of London allowance)£33,686 - £40,716 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities

This is an excellent opportunity for a post-doctoral researcher to work with a high profile team leading in the fields of the use of technology in primary care, medical interactions and qualitative methods. The role will involve collection of questionnaires prior to GP consultations, video recording of GP consultations and interviews with patients and GPs after consultations. Data from interviews with patients and GPs will be analysed thematically and consultation data will be analysed using conversation analysis. All the analysis will then be combined to identify effective strategies employed by patients and GPs for raising or responding to health information from the internet.

This is a full time post, funded by the National School for Primary Care Research for a period of 24 months.

Key Requirements

Applicants must hold a PhD in a social science subject and have experience of conducting conversation analysis. They must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with, for example, a track record in writing reports or peer reviewed papers, and presentations at conferences. Experience of designing and administering questionnaires would be advantageous, along with experience of applying for ethics and R&D approvals.

The successful candidate must be prepared to travel to research sites through London and the South East of England. Further Details
