The Department of Sociology invites applications for three full-time, permanent Lecturers in Sociology. You will have expertise in one (or more) of the following three substantive/methodological areas: 1) criminology and/or the sociology of crime and deviance; 2) race and ethnicity; 3) language and social interaction, especially conversation analysis.
You will be an outstanding scholar with a PhD who will join our vibrant, research-led department. Sociology at York was ranked 1st in the UK for research quality (REF2014) (sustaining our premier position established in the previous RAE 2008).
You will be expected to teach undergraduates and postgraduates and to recruit and supervise research students, to play a key role in the administration of the Department, to conduct and publish original research, to apply for research funding, and to take an active role in the research culture of the Department.
You will have experience of producing high-quality research and of taking responsibility for teaching, including the planning and design of courses.
