Confirming Allusions by Schegloff would be on that list for me. Not just an analysis, but documenting what CA is, where it's from, how to do it, all with a beautiful exemplar.

Great suggestions from Lucas. I’d also pick one nuts-and-bolts methodology intro (I like ten Have), one overview, one practical demonstration. But if students will never realistically do CA, I like this one- to show what is lost with other qual approaches journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.117…

I guess it depends on the masters program- I teach CA for undergrads the same as I would with MA students- assume they know nothing and go from there. Foundation, action, then structure. I start with Sacks and methodology

Such great suggestions! @JonathanPotter6 and I wrote 'essentials of CA' for @APA so our intro chapter might be useful if it's for psych students. Other useful texts: @john_c_heritage 'Practices and methods' ch in Silverman's Qualitative Sociology, & his Ch8 in Garfinkel & EM book
