Abstract
In this paper, an analysis of instances of recycling, replacement, insertion, and aborting in their sequential contexts reveals a variety of interactional motivations of the four repair operations in Hungarian within the framework of conversation analysis. The results of the present study support the findings related to insertion repair, according to which there is no one-to-one relationship between the repair operation type and the particular interactional function it fulfils (Wilkinson and Weatherall 2011: 89). It is also showed that different repair operations may not only have the same kind of interactional functions, but in Hungarian it is also possible that they fulfil one and the same interactional task in the same turn and thus in the same action.
