Abstract
The present article concerns the analysis of a meeting, by means of visio-communication, between detained students (with the head teacher of the prison's local teaching unit present) and a group of university lecturers. The objective of the meeting is to pinpoint and solve the practical difficulties which these same students –actually detained– experience in a distant learning program follow-up (undergraduate level). The joint examination of the audio-visual recording and the transcript of the multiparty interaction (11 participants in total, in both sites) reveals phenomena associated with the process of definition which appears all along the interaction, especially in the interactional process of specification by two speakers of the “same term”. Interactional linguistics will thus develop its investigation on situated data, by means of semantic tools.
