basically  a description  of how  I work. Other people certainly have different
 
ways  of doing things,  and these  might be better  than the ones  I describe  here.
 
These  are  only meant as suggestions. However, in  the interest  of clarity I've
 
stated  things  as directly as possible,  without  hedges  and qualifiers. Moreover
 
what  is said  here  is largely confined to basic  technical  issues.  At  a few places
 
I've  included  detailed  cabling diagrams  and descriptions  of software
 
procedures.  Though these  might  not seem  necessary  for  the casual  reader,
 
they  are  precisely  the things that can  take a long  time to track down  on your
 
own. I therefore  thought it would  be helpful  to include them.
