As we all know, there are by now several very useful textbooks on conversation analysis. However, teachers who would like to start off with the multimodal perspective still have a hard time finding pedagogical texts at appropriate levels of complexity. Our new textbook arose from the practical necessity of efficiently providing students with conceptual and practical tools for doing multimodal analyses of various types of interaction. The Swedish-speaking world is perhaps exceptionally well served by researchers carrying out EMCA video analysis within a wide range of academic subjects. The book’s 27 authors represent not only sociology, psychology, (clinical) linguistics, and teacher training, but also literary studies and computer science. Our book celebrates this diversity through separate chapters that address advanced level students in all of those subjects. Hopefully, the book will inspire teachers in various other languages to likewise endeavor into writing introductions to multimodal research. We would be more than happy to share the lessons learned in the process. | As we all know, there are by now several very useful textbooks on conversation analysis. Announcement: A new Swedish EMCA textbook: Multimodal Interaktionsanalys 2020
