Abstract

• Questions come from either the speaker's unknowing or uncertain position. • Wh-questions are unknowing ones, thus they cannot be dubitative. • Polar and alternative questions are uncertain ones, thus they can be dubitative. • Dubitative tag and declarative questions are more uncertain then their plain forms. • While dubitative polar interrogatives and alternative questions are less uncertain.
